Can you hear the Jaws theme in your heads, too? The Houston Museum of Natural Science has officially announced the opening date of its great new exhibit: Sharks! The Meg, The Monsters, & The Myths. Opening Friday, May 26, Houstonians can come face-to-face with the notorious apex predator at the immersive new exhibition, featuring a 7,000-gallon touch tank, floor-to-ceiling animations, mega models, and more!
Following the opening of the larger-than-life Dinos Alive exhibit, , on the tail end of the Houston Zoo opening its new, cutting-edge Galapagos Islands exhibit, the Houston Museum of Natural Science will debut its bold new exhibition.
Opening on May 26, Sharks! The Meg, The Monsters, & The Myth goes on display at HMNS at a time when a third of shark species – essential to marine ecosystems – is under the threat of extinction. Here, visitors can separate fact from fiction when learning about the million-year-old species.
“Discover the incredible diversity of these successful predators and explore their unique adaptations and behaviors, which continue to inspire scientific innovation on a global scale,” the museum writes on its website.
In order to make the educational process as immersive as possible, HMNS is going overboard with their new exhibition. Sharks! is set to feature floor-to-ceiling animations of distinct sharks, a life-sized Megalodon model, fossil shark teeth, as well as live sharks swimming in a 7,000-gallon touch tank!
“Take a deep dive into the fascinating world of these sometimes fearsome and often misunderstood creatures in Sharks! The Meg, The Monsters, & The Myths exhibition at HMNS.”
Sharks! The Meg, The Monsters, & The Myth opens at HMNS on May 26. It opens to members on May 26. Tickets are now on sale, priced at $35 for adult non-members, and $27 for children.
