Texas horror lovers are in the right place. While in Houston, there is no shortage of terrific haunted houses that’ll scare your socks off. If you want scares down to the bone, venture out to Cutting Edge Haunted House in Fort Worth, once again been crowned the scariest haunted house in America.
The recognition comes from Haunt World, the leading guide to haunted attractions worldwide, which just unveiled its 2025 ranking of the Top 13 Scariest Haunted Houses in the country. Sitting firmly at No. 1 is Fort Worth’s own Cutting Edge, a sprawling nightmare housed inside a century-old meatpacking plant.
Founded in October 1991 in Austin, then later moved to Fort Worth, Cutting Edge Hauted House is a sprawling haunted attraction housed in a former meatpacking plant built circa 1908. Historically the area was known as “Hell’s Half Acre“, and to this day, the haunted house maintains some of the meat-packing equipment from the plant, integrating it devilishly into its themed attractions.
Over the years, Cutting Edge Haunted House has racked up accolades, continuously ranking among the best haunted houses in the country. The venue previously held the Guinness World Record for the longest indoor walk-through haunted house in the world before eventually being one-upped by Dragon’s House of Horror in Albuquerque.
Its latest accolade was bestowed by Haunt World, which lauded the attraction for its nationally renowned zombie drumline, professional in-house actor training, and intricately designed multi-level labyrinth. Per Haunt World:

The terror officially returns on Friday, September 26, when Cutting Edge opens for the season. The haunt will operate on select nights through Saturday, November 1. Tickets start at $29.99, with prices varying by date. Cutting Edge is located at 1701 E Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76102.
