Al fresco movie nights are here to stay. Since the pandemic, the drive-in and open-air cinema has offered eager cinephiles a fun and safe way to enjoy their favorite movies. While there a number of different outdoor movie-going experiences to be had in Houston, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better venue that Z on 23, a stunning rooftop in the heart of downtown, Houston.
Perched on top of the 23rd floor of La Méridien hotel in Downtown, Houston, Z on 23 has some of the most elevated views in the city. This summer, it will be converting to a skyline cinema for an (extremely) limited movie series.
On July 8, in coordination with Luxury Picnic service, Picnics in the City LLC, the rooftop is hosting a movie under the stars with a screening of the iconic 2006 film, The Devil Wears Prada, starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.
In addition to the movie, starting at 8:30 pm – doors open at 7:30 pm – the event will feature a variety of interactive photo installations, food and beverages, as well as shopping options, and more! Tickets start at $80 for two.
Visitors can also opt to get the luxury picnic set up ($125 – $185) that includes a picnic table for groups from 2 – 6 guests, ranging from tabletop decor, throw pillows, a rug, as well as photo-op and popcorn access.
As for z on 23, the bar only takes cash so withdraw accordingly. It’s open from 4 – 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays only and while it doesn’t offer Happy Hour, it does feature daily specials.
