Megatel Homes is one of the nation’s largest private homebuilder. For its latest endeavor, the company announced its plans for a massive, $2 billion, resort-style lagoon development in northeast Harris County.
Named Saint Tropez, the thousand-acre community will feature a manmade lagoon complete with white sand beaches, surf simulator, swim-up bar, kayaking, paddleboarding, water slide tower, splash pad, and sound stage. The lagoon will be open to the public, but community members will have exclusive access to other amenities.
Additionally, the community will feature a publicly available entertainment district with a bowling alley, adult lounge, teen arcade, and indoor children’s play area.
“Lagoon communities have proven to be an extraordinarily popular residential option throughout Texas, with heavy demand for these amenity-rich developments,” said Zach Ipour, co-founder of Megatel Homes.
“As a result of this significant demand, Megatel is pursuing the development of a dozen such communities throughout Texas and expanding to other states.”
The residential community off of Grand Parkway and Huffman Cleveland Road will offer 4,500 single-and-multi-family units priced between $350,000 and $700,000. Megatel plans to finish Phase One of the development by the first quarter 2023. According to a press release, pre-sales will begin within the next two months.
“Megatel Homes has been searching for the optimum opportunity to gain re-entry into the Houston housing market,” added Ipour. “We are excited to bring this revolutionary residential experience to the Houston area.”
Until then, lagoon lovers can take a spin out to Lago Mar in Texas City. Here, visitors can soak up some sun in a private cabana – or floating cabana if it floats their boat – drink a tropical cocktail on a rooftop party deck, or simply dip their toes into its 24-million-gallon-pool.
