This year, the Lunar New Year – otherwise known as Chinese New Year – lands on Wednesday, January 29th. Celebrations for the annual event often last for up to two weeks, starting ahead of the special day. For the next couple weeks, there are a variety of fabulous Lunar New Year celebrations you can attend here in Houston.
POST HTX, Houston’s premier entertainment venue and cultural hub is ushering in the Year of the Snake on January 26 with a day full of Lunar New Year festivities. Hosted by Washington Ho of HBO’s House of Ho, the festivities include a carnivalesque Asian pop-up market, lion dancing, food vendors, and more.
“Join us on Jan 26th in celebrating the Lunar New Year welcoming the Year of the Snake” POST HTX wrote in an Instagram post.
“The festival is powered by @lexususa and hosted by Washington Ho @washingtonho with the Ho Family from the House of Ho on HBO Max.”.
The events kick off at noon on Sunday, January 26, with an Asian pop-up market at its North Docks. Lasting until 11 pm that night, the carnivalesque market is set to feature traditional Lunar New Year foods as well as arts, crafts, games, and other cultural activities.
POST HTX will also host two Lion Dance performances by Soaring Phoenix, both taking place at POST Market at 1 pm and later, 6:30 pm. Other events here include a Linh Son Houston NW Temple lion dance and cultural performance as well as a Danny Nguyen Couture Mini Ao Dai Fashion Show.
