Whether your living room looks like a jungle or you’re just hoping to keep a single fern alive, get ready: the ultimate plant convention is putting down roots in Houston this October.
About PlantCon
What started as a pandemic passion project to keep the local community connected has blossomed into something huge. Founded by President Kenny Nguyen, this grassroots movement opened the Houston Plant Market in 2022 as a central hub for plant lovers, which eventually paved the way for the very first official PlantCon in 2023.
Today, PlantCon proudly holds the title of “the largest plant hobbyist convention in the nation.”

When and where is PlantCon October 2026?
This year’s immersive expo takes over the Reliant Center on the weekend of October 17–18, 2026.
What to expect at PlantCon this October
Expect the massive space to be transformed into a lush micro-rainforest, featuring around 200 booths packed with everything from rare, exotic beauties to easy-care starter plants.
PlantCon Houston runs a full weekend schedule of hands-on workshops, expert panels, and plant competitions. You can learn the Japanese art of Kokedama to create moss ball displays, mount staghorn ferns onto boards, and build custom bonsai trees from scratch.
The convention schedule includes specialized talks on native Texas oaks, cultivating outdoor gardens, and designing interior spaces with plants. A special guest panel hosts a live Q&A about building plant collections, while a gardening game show tests your outdoor growing knowledge with trivia and prizes.
The convention wraps up at the DJ stage with an award ceremony recognizing the plant competition winners, top exhibitors, and the Houston Local Hero.
PlantCon takes place from October 17 – October 18 at Reliant Center, 1 Fannin St, Houston, TX 77054. Both days the convention will run from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., earlier for those with Early Entry or VIP Passes.
