Halloween, or fall for that matter, might seems a ways away for Houston – weather considering – but that only adds to the excitement for us. To get the season rolling, esteemed pop-up venue Popfancy Dessert Bar is hosting a strapping pirate-themed pop-up in Houston embarking this September.
Yo-ho, yo-ho buccanneers, marine voyagers, and Jack Sparrow impersonators: it’s time to break out your eye-patches, peg legs, and bottles of rum. On the heels of the venue’s pinktastic Barbie Dreamhouse-themed pop-up, Popfacny Dessert Bar is ready to raise the sails Friday, September 8, for another thrilling, sea-fairing event for Houstonians to enjoy.
“The Iron Maiden Tavern, a new dining experience from beyond the Grand Line is docking in Houston this September 8 – October 1 for a limited time,” the dessert bar wrote in an Instagram post.

“Take a step into our immersive anime pirate tavern and feast on a medley of worldly treats from across the four seas, enjoy live music on weekends, cosplay fun, trivia nights, and more!”
Per its custom, Popfancy will be serving a themed menu of drinks, eats, and desserts. Themed drinks include a selection of fruit “potions” including the enticing Ope Ope Potion strawberry jalapeño lemonade, a variety of non-alcoholic Butterbeers, and the Mermaid Princess strawberry, mango, dragonfruit, and banana yogurt smoothie.
Food-wise, patrons can choose from the Colossal Colosseum Pretzel, Alabasta Scurvy Dog, Amazon Lily Dragonbeard Noodles, Pride of Wano (spam musubi and kim chi with eel sauce), and Fish-Man Island Platter.
The Iron Maiden Pirate Tavern pop-up runs from September 8 to October 1. The event is free for all ages. Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Thursday though the venue recommends reserving a fastpass online on weekends to reduce wait times.
