The World Cup festivities are in full-tilt! Ahead of the Netherlands World Cup match against this Sweden this coming weekend, Dutch soccer supporters will take to Houston streets in an epic, high energy parade.
Kicking off at Rice University, the iconic Oranje Fanwalk is scheduled to take over the streets of Houston on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The Oranje Fanwalk is a pre-game event organized by the Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbalbond (KNVB). During major international tournaments, thousands of supporters dressed in the team’s signature orange gather for live music before marching together along a designated route to the stadium.
“This summer, the eyes of the world will be on Houston, and Rice is proud to help welcome the global celebration of sport and community,” Rice President Reginald DesRoches said in a statement. Rice is an Official Houston World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter.
“Hosting this World Cup and Dutch tradition at Rice Stadium reflects both the university’s deep connection to the city and our commitment to bringing people together through experiences that inspire pride, unity and international exchange.
“We are honored to play a role in what will be a historic moment for Houston, the Netherlands and for the millions of fans following the FIFA World Cup.”
The Oranje Fanwalk in Houston will kick off at 8 am on Saturday, June 20. Beginning at Rice University, here the Orange Fan Team will gather with live entertainment – including DJ NOA, Yves Berendse, Yuki, and FeestDJRuud – before departing at 8:45 am. From there, a 2.5-mile march will feature a sea of orange to NRG Stadium. Kickoff of the match between Netherlands and Sweden is scheduled for 12 pm.
Leading the Oranje Fanwalk will be Oranje Legion, the famed double-decker bus. The double-decker bus has led the Dutch supporters group, the Oranje Legion, for over 20 years. It has been transported to international tournaments worldwide, including World Cups in Brazil, South Africa, and Qatar. During these events, the bus guides thousands of orange-clad fans along the march route to the stadium while playing music from an onboard DJ booth.
