Enjoy tacos, tequila, weekend brunch and more at the new Mexican Sugar in Houston. Now open at Regent Square overlooking Buffalo Bayou, the Dallas-based Mexican restaurant is known for its innovative take on Mexican dishes, vibrant atmosphere, and impressive Agave Library.
Mexican Sugar first opened in Texas in November 2013 at The Shops at Legacy in Plano outside Dallas. Since then, the restaurant has expanded to additional locations in the area – with outposts in Uptown Dallas and Las Colinas gaining popularity with is fresh take on traditional Mexican cuisine. The venue also prepares its dishes from scratch, serving handcrafted cocktails, and brunch on weekends.
The restaurant’s latest spot is a near 13,000-square-foot outpost at Regent Square in Houston. Here, the restaurant boasts two patios overlooking Buffalo Bayou Park, providing both indoor and outdoor seating across two levels. Imbued with the spirit of Mexico City, the design showcases intricate handcrafted tiles, rich textiles, and overall vibrant ambiance.
Renowned for its energetic ambiance, the restaurant reimagines classic Mexican cuisine with a modern twist. Featured lunch and dinner specials include hand-pressed tortillas crafted from heirloom masa, Lobster Fundido, Angus Skirt Steak, and Bone-In Pork Chop.
Classics like tacos, enchiladas, and fajitas are also available, as are unique offerings like Striped Bass and Barbacoa Arepas. On weekends, Mexican Sugar serves a special brunch menu with options like Cajeta French Toast, Chicken Chilaquiles, and Benedictos Rancheros.
Guests can explore a curated collection of over 150 tequilas, mezcals, and sotols in the Agave Library, offering a distinctive tasting experience.
