We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: we can’t get enough Mexican restaurants in Houston. From historical gems, to understated taco trucks, to authentic Mexican kitchens – Houston has it all.
The newly opened El Pueblito de Frida #2 on Richmond Ave, however, may be the most unique Mexican dining experience in Houston, yet.
The restaurant is the project of the same group behind the Frida Cocina Capreste in Magnolia. Last year, the ranch restaurant, which only opened on Sundays, went viral through TikTok and other social media platforms. Shortly thereafter, the restaurant shut down, citing plans for expansion.

El Pueblito de Frida #2, however, is now open and provides a much more central dining destination for Houstonians. Outfitted in breathtaking floral installations, vibrant open-air patio, and Latina flair everywhere your eyes can see, the restaurant gives the impression of dining in a countryside Mexican village.
Here, patrons can enjoy the tantalizing aroma of outdoor grilling along with authentic, mouthwatering Mexican cuisine ranging from beef and lamb birria – as well as birria pizza – taquitos, canastita, fresh, handmade tortillas, and carnitas.
Libation-wise, customers can refresh themselves with an array of colorful cocktails – both and without alcohol – including Micheladas, margaritas, and aguita de peña served in equally darling jars and containers to match your spring vibe.
