While Louisiana often takes the spotlight for its lively Mardi Gras celebrations in the United States, Houston offers its own extravagant experience with Galveston’s colossal annual festival. Ahead of the two-weekend festival this February, organizers have unveiled the 2024 live-music program, featuring alternative rock legends, Gin Blossoms, and Grammy-nominated country group, Eli Young Band.
From February 2 – February 13, Mardi Gras! Galveston will takeover the town with a non-stop carnival celebration as the third largest Mardi Gras festival in the country, expecting a draw of over 350,000 attendees.
For more than a century, Mardi Gras! Galveston has annually transformed the town into a vibrant display of green, purple, and yellow. This lively celebration offers heightened entertainment, countless parades, family-friendly events, and an abundance of beads for everyone to enjoy!
This year, the live music performances kick off on Saturday, February 3, with a performance from alt-rock legends, Gin Blossoms, at 5:30 pm on Center Stage.
On Sunday, February 4th, organizers will host the Latin-flavored Fiesta Gras with twin performances from David Lee Garza y Los Musicales at noon, followed by a performance from Duelo Mexican norteño band at 2:30 pm.
Headlining weekend two will be the Grammy-nominated Eli Young Band with a performance on Friday, February 9, at 10:45 pm.
“Throughout both weekends, Mardi Gras! Galveston’s 2024 live music line-up will showcase local favorites with a fusion of rock, Latin, and country,” organizers stated in a press release.
“The Salute to Texas Stage features DJs every night, including DJ Nonstop, Thomas Gray, DJ T3, Tony Styles, Hensen, DJ Kyxx, and DJ Zitro.”
Tickets for the colossal Mardi Gras! festival are now on sale starting at $20 for general admission (includes access to the concerts). For more information about the full entertainment schedule, visit the website here.
