NRG Stadium might be the home to the Houston Texans football team, but this summer the stadium will host futbol as the world knows it. On July 26, European soccer club titans Real Madrid and Manchester United will face-off for the Soccer Champions Tour at NRG Stadium in Houston.
Following the announcement of the World Cup coming to Houston in 2026, futbol fervor in Space City has reached a fever pitch. In between Houston Dynamo games, Houstonians can get a taste of world-class soccer at the match up between reigning UEFA Champions League Champions Real Madrid and legendary England club, Manchester United on Wednesday, July 26, at NRG Stadium.
The Soccer Champions Tour series will comprise of 8 games in 6 cities between AC Milan, Arsenal, FC Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United, and Real Madrid between July 22 and August 23. The series will kick-off on July 22 with a match between FC Barcelona and Juventus at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
“Six iconic clubs, six cities, one epic stage,” the Soccer Champions Tour organization wrote in an Instagram post. “Introducing Soccer Champions Tour. Tickets on Sale May 19th.”
The Houston match-up will see the first game between the two teams since 2018. This will be the second time Manchester United played in Houston, having played Manchester United back in 2017 as well as two other times.
The match will be the second time Real Madrid has played in Houston, following their game against Bayern Munich back in 2019.
Tickets for the event are now on sale starting at $300 a piece.
FIFA officials selected Houston as one of the North American cities to host the World Cup games in 2026.
