Los Cochinitos is a longstanding staple along highways throughout Mexico. Its authentic, time-tested carnitas recipes have turned Los Cochinitos into a roadside destination that have led some to liken it to the “Buc-ee’s of Mexico”. This past February, Los Cochinitos debuted its first U.S.-based location in the Houston area of Spring.
Founded in 1959, Los Cochinitos began in a modest bus station in the Valley of Mexico. Here, founder Don Filiberto Arana, set up a small taco stand where its tantalizing aroma attracted hordes of hungry travelers.
Over the years, Los Cochinitos set up restaurants along major Mexican highways where Arana professionalized the roadside carnitas experience and created a company based on predictable goodness.

Featuring a small Mexican town charm, Los Cochinitos has become a major roadside destination because of its authentic, slow-cooked pork recipes served by the weight. Alongside its menu of handmade tortillas, traditional sides like gorditas, chicharron, and sopa de medula, Los Cochinitos has become a must-stop for any traveling passerbys.
This past February, Los Cochinitos opened its first location in United States in Spring. Located at 21005 Interstate 45 N, Spring, TX 77388.
Its menu is divided into los antojitos, los consomes, las carnitas, las sugerencias, and los postres or otherwise starters, soups, house specials, classics, and desserts. For the unfamiliar, be sure to try the cochi-snacks and consumé de nopal. The sweet corn ice cream is also a favorite. Absolute musts include the marranitas, tacos de carnitas, and gorditas de chicharrón.

As for drinks, Los Cochinitos serves a range of soft drinks, agua frescas, as well as horchata, hibiscus, Mexican beers and Mexican coffees.
Los Cochinitos is open from 11 am – 8 pm Monday through Thursday; 11 am – 9 pm Fridays; from 10 am – 9 pm Saturdays; and from 1 am – 8 pm on Sundays.
