Houston is home to a wide array of delightful farmer’s markets but if you’re looking to really stock up on produce, meats, and maybe even grab dinner at acclaimed restaurants, check out Houston Farmers Market – an 18-acre, open-air Farmers Market that stands as one of, if not , the largest farmers market in Texas.
The Houston Farmers Market is also the oldest farmer’s market in the city. Opened in 1942 at 2520 Airline Dr., the market now spans 40,000 square feet after having undergone renovations in 2021. Fortunate for us, the farmers market is open every day with fresh produce, quality meats, and chef-driven dining destinations.
Here, visitors can load up on fresh produce from a plethora of vendors. As for meats, R-C Ranch butcher is on-site delivering an array of poultry, beef, and pork.

For a more international flavor, the Houston Farmers Market also hosts an array of Latin vendors where visitors can enjoy an array of aguas frescas, tamales, pastries, and candies as well as hot sauces, crafts, and other prepared foods.
Throughout the venue, visitors can also find numerous coffee stands as well as opportunities for more adults drinks including Margarita’s To-Go to sip on while strolling.
If you want to leave the cooking to the professionals, Houston Farmers Market houses multiple chef-driven restaurants including Underbelly Burger, Alamo Tamales, and the widely renowned Crawfish & Noodles.

The venue is also known to host live events ranging from pop-up artisan markets, live music, chef demonstrations, and seasonal festivals.
Houston Farmers Market is open daily from 6 am – 7 pm at 2520 Airline Dr. closed only on Christmas Day and New Years Day. For the full farmers market experience, the venue really comes alive on Saturdays and Sundays. Select vendors accept cards, but most prefer cash. Editor’s advice is to go early for the freshest picks.
