Houston’s biggest Fourth of July event is returning with a bang this Independence Day. The 39th annual Freedom Over Texas will celebrate the country’s 250th birthday with a headlining performance by Keith Urban.
Freedom Over Texas will once again grace the city with an epic Fourth of July celebration. This year, the festival is going even bigger as it celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. To really set the tone, the City of Houston has tapped country phenom, Keith Urban, for a headlining performance.

But that’s not all. The Fourth of July celebration in Houston will also feature opening performances by Texas trio Los Lonely Boys and alt-rock group, Collective Soul.
“Freedom Over Texas is one of Houston’s most exciting traditions, and this year, we’re making it bigger and better. We’re proud to bring an incredible lineup to our city for a Fourth of July celebration unlike any other,” said Mayor Whitmire in a press release.
“As we mark America’s 250th anniversary, this event is more than a celebration. It is a reflection of the spirit, unity, and pride that define our community. Families, friends, and visitors can expect an unforgettable experience that showcases the energy and heart of Houston.”
In addition to Independence Day performances, Freedom Over Texas is introducing an array of new activations. In honor of the FIFA World Cup, organizers will host a Futbol Park in Sam Houston Park where fans can participate in various soccer-themed games, activities, and food vendors.

Furthermore, Freedom Over Texas will feature a number of festivities at Eleanor Tinsley Park including the Bud Zone tropical beer garden, Dr. Pepper Flavor Zone, Liberty Park Armed Forces and First Responders tribute, and All American Kid Zone. The latter will offer a range of kid-friendly activities that include games, face painting, and educational opportunities.
Per tradition, the Freedom Over Texas event will feature an electrifying fireworks finale along Buffalo Bayou.
