Category 1 Hurricane Beryl made landfall in Matagorda Bay in Texas around 4 am. While the hurricane is expected to lose steam within the first half of the day, the hurricane will bring heavy rain, 75-85 mph winds, and power outages to Houston communities.
With a high surfline and powerful wind already hitting Galveston, more inward Houston counties, which are presently experiencing winds between 58 and 73 mph are presently under a tornado watch and flood watch in 8 Houston counties.
From now until 10 am on Monday morning, eight Houston counties are under Tornado Watch. The eight counties are as follows:

- Matagorda
- Montgomery

A Flash Flood Warning is also in effect after Houston counties have already encountered up to six inches of rain, with additional rainfall of up to four inches. The Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 9 am Tuesday morning.
Affected areas include Harris County, Brazoria County, Fort Bend County, Galveston County, and Chambers County.

According to ABC13, over a million Houston residents are currently without power, with that number expected to rise as the storm moves northeastward through the city.
Further wind damage, heavy rain, and flooding is expected to occur.
While there is still much storm left to come, forecasters concur that the hurricane is deteriorating rapidly.
