As much as we love the holidays, many of us feel burnt out come the new year. Following an over-indulgence of eggnog, holiday ham, and Christmas cookies, we often reactivate our health-conscious lifestyle in January for a fresh start on the year.
If you’re looking to get on the wagon (or is it off the wagon?) this January – or for the rest of the year, for that matter – stop by Sipple, Houston’s first non-alcoholic shop.
Owned by husband-and-wife team, Danny and Helenita Frounfelkner, Sipple is a liquor(less) store in River Oaks store that features hundreds of non-alcoholic options for aspiring teetotalers.
“We’re taking the world of ‘acceptable’ drinking and throwing away the rulebook to create something amazing. a community. a marketplace,” Sipple writes on its website.
“A mindful marketspace to bring the makers of alcohol-free drinks and the people who enjoy them together, no matter what their why is.”
As Texas Monthly points out, alcohol-less spirits have recently hit a stride in the market, far beyond the O’Douls days.
“I wanted drinks that tasted amazing but still looked good on your bar cart,” said Danny Frounfelkner, former sommelier and service industry worker of 20 years.
As some new to the lifestyle might be at a loss of what order, Sipple allows customers the chance to sample their products.
Those products include wine and aperifits, cocktails mixers and ready-to-drink options, “spirits”, and functional beverages.
Featured favorites of Sipple include Tenneyson’s Black Ginger, BonBuz alcohol-free alchemy spirit, Element Cranberry Hibiscus for sodas, cocktails & cooking, Crisp & Crude CBD-infused Mellow Mule, Rasasvada Rose Bergamot Spirit Restorative, and Casamara Club Alta Amara Club Soda.
Sipple is located at 2410 Quenby St Ste. 100 and is open from noon to 6 pm on Sundays and Tuesdays, and from 11 am to 6 pm Wednesday through Saturday. The shop is closed on Mondays.
