A betting site by the name of Betway Insider recently published a new study ranking the coolest cities in North America. Per their publication, cities such as Dallas, Washington D.C., and Colombus – really? Colombus, Ohio?? – are all cooler than Houston. In fact, Houston didn’t even make the top 15.
Before you write an official letter of complaint, check out our article below on the study of ‘the coolest cities in North America’ for details on what went wrong in their rankings – according to us.
To conduct its ranking of the coolest North American cities, Betway analyzed key “cool” factors among the 50 most populated cities in the United States in Canada. Key factors in Betway’s study include:
- Median age of residents
- Number of street murals
- Number of record stores
- Number of vegan/vegetarian restaurants
- Number of hidden gem bars, cafes, and restaurants
- Number of coming concerts and music performances
- Number of tattoo parlors
According to the Betway study, the coolest city in North America is Boston, Massachusetts. Its ranking, per the study, was in large part due to its youthful population (median of 32.4) and number of hidden gem bars, cafes, and restaurants.
Here is the study’s ranking of the top 10 coolest cities in North America:
- Boston, MA
- Las Vegas, NV
- Portland, OR
- San Francisco, CA
- Seattle, WA
- Denver, CO
- Nashville, TN
- Washington D.C.
- Detroit, MI
- Los Angeles, CA
A couple Texas cities did crack the top 25, including Austin at No. 11 and Dallas at No. 14.
While the study is rife with errors, bordering on slander – maybe it’s a good thing. After all, Houston has been recently ranked as the single largest US destination for movers this past year so an accurate account on the city’s culture would only drive more to move here.
