Ahead of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo 2023 kicking off on February 28, organizers will celebrate its return with a massive parade through downtown, Houston this Saturday – an event that harkens back all the way to 1938.
“Since 1938, the nation’s fourth largest city is transformed from a bustling metropolis to a down-home celebration of Western heritage,” the website reads.
“Decorative floats intermingle with thousands of men and women on horseback to fill the streets with hoof beats and marching bands. Enthusiastic Houstonians join out-of-town spectators to line the streets and sidewalks to be involved in one of Houston’s most popular celebrations!”
The parade begins at 10 am at Bagby St. and Walker St., moving eastward on Travis St. to Bell St. From there, the parade will continue to Louisiana Street before turning west on Lamar St. to ultimately conclude at Bagby St.
