Ready for a finger-licking good time? The first-ever Houston Chicken Wing Festival is set to take over Buffalo Bayou Park this Sunday!
About the Houston Chicken Wing Festival
Presented by Bayou City Hangouts, the Houston Chicken Wing Festival is an all-day event featuring live music and DJs, delicious food, and a culinary showdown where top local spots compete for the championship.
The Houston Chicken Wing Festival takes place for one day only. Hosted at Buffalo Bayou Park on Sabine Street, the event kicks off at noon. VIP ticket-holders have the opportunity to arrive early at 11 a.m.
The grounds feature open green space to set up lawn chairs and blankets, with live contests, game viewing stations, a Kids Zone, and a complimentary tasting from Saint Arnold Brewing Company for the 21-and-over crowd. There will be a variety of vendors on-site, offering sides, desserts, and other options that aren’t chicken wings.
At the heart of the festival is a chicken-wing cook-off in which visitors can enjoy and – depending on ticket type – vote on which wing should be crowned the winner. Categories include the following:
- Most Creative Flavor
- Hottest Wing
- Best Classic Buffalo
- Best Dry Rub
- People’s Choice
The ceremony announcing the winning wing will be held at 5 p.m.
Ticketing options for the Houston Chicken Wing Festival
Ticket prices vary depending on how much flavor you want out of this festival. For those who want to simply enjoy the atmosphere, wander about, and pay as they go, admission is completely free. Similarly, visitors can opt to make a donation at the door and do the same. Note: the festival will be donating a portion of profits to Kids Meals Inc. – so donations are encouraged.
For even more flavor, the festival offers a limited number of Wing Tasting Wristbands; priced at $45 for adults, $17.49 for kids, those with wristbands have the opportunity to try each of the competing wings in the cooking competition. Plus, those with wristbands will be automatically entered into the festival’s raffle.
