Looking spiffy, ‘Stros. The City Connect Astros jerseys are officially here, Houston. Following a sweep of leaks proliferating the likes of Twitter and Reddit last week, the organization has officially revealed the Houston Astros City Connect jerseys.
For the past few days the Houston Astros have teased the new release with a series of cryptic videos and ambiguous photos saturated with the team’s colors. Wednesday morning, the team posted a video of Jose Altuve’s silhouette on a planet landscape with dramatic, climactic music in the background.
This was the final teaser before the official unveiling, which was included in another dramatic, space-themed video. The video featured the message: Welcome to The Next Frontier.
“The moon was just the beginning. Now we’re aiming higher than ever before. Houston has served as mission control for our greatest news. As city that bridges humanity to the stars. Built for pushing forward into the unknown. Houston will always be for the driven, for the bold, for those that turn ambition into action. This jersey gives a nod to our legacy while charting the course for the next frontier.”
The video continues to show different Astros players sporting the new jerseys as the music rises in the background.
New age design elements of the new City Connect jerseys branding tequila sunrise colors with a lunar pattern trim include the “‘Stros” emblem, a Houston Space City mission patch, as well as the message: “We do things not because they are easy but because they are hard”.
The City Connect hats feature a similar colorway with a bold “A” emblem in similar lunar design.
