Following the announcement this past November that the Houston Astros would be changing the name of its ballpark from Minute Maid Park, the organization officially debuted Daikin Park in January of this year. If that’s a fact that still difficult to swallow, you can own a piece of the iconic park forever as the Houston Astros are auctioning off the Minute Maid sign by letters.
Hosted on the official platform for Houston Astros auctions – an official online auctioning platform of the MLB – the organization is auctioning letters in separate auctions of the iconic Minute Maid sign removed from the stadium on Crawford street late last year.
Present letters up for auction on the platform are the capital “Mi”, “nu”, “te”, “M”, “ai”, and “d”. For scale, the dimensions of the “M” come in at 53″ x “22” x “36” – will that fit in your garage? Each bid started at $500. Incremental bids are priced at $50. The last day to bid is Sunday, April 27.
For those hoping to score the iconic memorabilia, you can bid through the platform. The organization has other Minute Maid memorabilia up for auction on the platform, including Minute Mai Park logo signs, Minute Maid Park Train Metal Sign, as well as Minute Maid Park Train Oranges & Lady Bug – the latter presently bidding for $550.
In related news, officials announced that Houston will be hosting World Baseball Classic games at Daikin Park in 2026. The two World Baseball Classic games – otherwise known as the World Cup of baseball – will both be quarterfinal matches and likely include a game involving the US national team.
