It’s December and therefore officially the holiday season. In between the decorating, shopping, and occasional binge eating, it’s good to celebrate the spirit of the season by watching some of your favorite holiday classics. In Houston, you can do just the thing at Rooftop Cinema Club, which will be screening all of your holiday favorites this December!
The Rooftop Cinema Club is an open-air theater on top of the Whole Foods in BLVD Place. It provides an atmosphere of what’s been called “social cinema” wherein viewers at times walk around and interact with the environment during the course of the movie.
The December programming begins on Wednesday, December 1, with a screening of Last Christmas at 5 pm, as well as the instant classic, and endlessly quotable Elf at 8 pm.
Its program for the first week features screenings of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Home Alone – the latter landing on Thursday Bingo Night, which features weekly themed bingo boards with film quotes and prizes for its winners.
Other screenings for its first week include Love Actually, Serendipity, Happy Feet, While You Were Sleeping, The Best Man Holiday, Polar Express, The Preacher’s Wife, and The Holiday.
“We’ve decked the halls at our RCC venues and we can’t wait for you to see ‘em,” the company wrote in an Instagram post. “Come out this week (and the whole month of December!) for all of your holiday favorites including Home Alone, Elf, The Polar Express and much much more.”
Other screenings include: A Christmas Story, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Arthur Christmas, and The Night Before.
Per tradition, the cinema club also has a number of special events lined up for the season including Pet-friendly “Wooftop” screenings on December 4 and 19, Sunday morning Popcorn and Pajamas flicks on December 12 and 19, as well as 12 hours of Elf on December 23.
