The Mayor of Flavortown stopped by Space City on his cross-country culinary tour of America.
Much like the culinary scene of Houston, meme-king Guy Fieri needs no introduction. On his frosted-tip quest across the United States in search of its best Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, Fieri popped into a number of local eateries to be showcased on the forthcoming season of the show. On his road trip back in April, Fieri hit up a handful of Bayou City restaurants. In August, the episode called Mouthwatering Meat featured Montrose-area restaurant, Traveler’s Table – a globally-inspired restaurant that serves modernized versions of handmade dishes from around the world. During this trip, it’s reported that Fieri popped into a number of other restaurants including Filipino restaurant and bar, Be More Pacific, and tropical new cocktail bar, The Toasted Coconut.
This Friday, slated for 8 pm on the Food Network, Houstonians might recognize at least two of their hometown spots in DDD’s episode entitled Cookin’ From Scratch. The episode is set to feature W+M Carrot Pizza and succulent Braised Shortrib Sandwich of Midtown bakery, restaurant, and bar, Weights + Measures. Additionally, Chef Roberto’s scratch-made Italian bistro Fresco Cafe Italiano is also set to make an appearance.
The Mayor also dropped by The Original Marini’s Empanada House on Westheimer for some traditional Argentinian house-made empanadas. CultureMap Hou reports that the restaurant will also air on Friday night in the episode Fresh From Flavortown at 9 pm.
