Galveston’s Island Trolleys were introduced in 1988 as an extension of the historical tradition of street cars dating back to 1867. In 2008, the trolleys were damaged during Hurricane Ike. After a 13-year hiatus, the trolleys returned to Galveston streets in 2021

Galveston Trolley Routes & Times
Operating between Stewart Beach and Moody Gardens, the Seawall Route features convenient stops along the famous Seawall. It provides easy access to the beach, local restaurants, and popular attractions. Passengers can transfer to the Downtown Loop at the intersection of 21st Street and Seawall Blvd. Trolleys run from 10 am – 8 pm, every 30 minutes or so.
This Downtown Loop route winds through Historic Downtown, stopping along The Strand, Postoffice Street, 25th Street, and 20th Street. It provides easy access to downtown shopping and cultural districts. Passengers can transfer to the Seawall Loop at the intersection of 21st Street and Seawall Blvd. Trolleys run from 10 am – 8 pm, every 30 minutes or so.

How much do the Galveston Trolleys cost?
Trolley rides top out at $1 per trip for adults. The fair is $0.50 for students aged 6 – 18, children 6 – 11 and for seniors and passengers with disability. Fair is free for kids under 6. Be prepared to pay tickets in exact change as drivers do not carry cash.
