Tim and David Cisneros are the father-and-son team behind Romulus Development Partners. The two are the recent owners of the historic Eastwood Grocery building, originally the LM Greco.
This fall – according to its website – the Cisneros development team plan to transform the century-old space into a bustling retail center with an outdoor food court, boutique, and renovated Southern Pacific caboose made into a fast-casual kitchen… or maybe a coffee shop.
The two-story Eastwood Grocery building located at 4109 McKinney St. in Eastwood dates back to 1922. What was once an Italian grocer will soon see its next act over a century later. Last year, Romulus Development Partners teamed up with Cisneros Design Studio to acquire and renovate the landmark into an exciting new retail space.
“One sort of dreams about being able to develop in their backyard, or make some investments that are great real estate deals, high-yielding, and desired by the market, but also improve the quality of life in your own neighborhood,” David Cisneros told Bisnow.
Inside the building, plans are to convert the rough 2,000-square-feet second floor space for office and/or retail use, such as a barbershop or salon. The bottom floor, which comprises the same amount of square footage, the development group plans to convert into a restaurant and grocery space.
While there’s still much to do in the way of renovation, the group already has a South Pacific caboose on site. This Romulus hopes to lease to a potential coffee shop or kitchen tenant. There is also ample space surrounding the structure that the groups aims to support outdoor dining.
Romulus plans to open the new development fall of this year in Eastwood about two blocks from East Downtown.
