Brookfield Properties, the organization behind the Downtown Farmers Market, announced that it would return to its campuses this March. The farmers market will take place on Wednesdays each month kicking off March 1st and running throughout 2023.
The Wednesday downtown market will be held at the Acre at Allen Center at 1200 Smith Street as well as the Central Plaza at Houston Center at 1221 McKinney St. Here, visitors can find artisanal products, as well as local produce, confections, and more.
Following the trend of remote work in the aftermath of the pandemic, the weekday decision would entice Downtown personnel back into the office as well as foster community.
Furthermore, Wednesday is the most popular day to work at the office for Brookfield employees and fits in with farmers’ and general restocking grocery schedules, according to Houston Chronicle.
Listed vendors presently include: MBJ Famrs, Crank Carrot Juice Co, Erbe Ranch, Grammy’s Cookie Jar, Jani’s Waffles, La Lydia, Lather and Co, Migaloo Chocolatier, Reishi & Health, Sadie’s Select, and Wood Duck Farmers. The initial markets will also feature a Magnolia Mercantile personalized hat-making booth.
The markets will occur between 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on Wednesdays. The first and third Wednesday markets will take place at Acre at Allen Center; the second and fourth Wednesdays will take place at Central Plaza at Houston Center. No markets will occur on the fifth Wednesday of the month, should they occur.
