It’s sure hot right now, but this summer heat – and summer as a whole – will be over before we know it. In anticipation of fall in Houston, Discovery Green has announced its fall program including the return of Scream On The Green, Dia de los Muertos, and other seasonal favorites!
While it might not seem it right now, autumn is on the horizon. And for Houston, that means mildly cool temperatures. Every fall, Discovery Green, puts on a variety of exciting seasonal events to get Houstonians out and about. Recently, the organization announced its Fall 2024 Programming Lineup.
The Tunnel by BIG ART
Discovery Green is debuting a new interactive art installation this fall beginning Thursday, September 5. Running until Sunday, October 6, The Tunnel is a 12-foot-high structure running 100 feet long mapped out in over 150 LED lights immersing visitors in a vortex of light and sound.
The Tunnel opens on Thursday, September 5, in which Discovery Green will celebrate the unveiling with discussions from its creator, Paul Magnuson of BIG ART. Drinks will also be available.

México en el Corazón
Kick off the autumn festivities on Friday, September 20, with the Mexico en el Corazón celebration. The cultural event will feature mariachis as well as traditional folklorico troupe of 50 performers.

Flea by Night
Flea by Night returns to Discovery Green on September 21. Here visitors can explore the many wares of local businesses while also enjoy food trucks and live entertainment.

Screen on the Green
Get the family together for a movie night under the stars at Discovery Green’s Screen on the Green. On Saturday, September 21, Discovery Green will be hosting a public screening of Puss in Boots from 7 – 9:30 pm.

Scream on the Green
What’s Halloween without a little scream? On October 25, Discovery Green will reprise its free, family friendly Halloween celebration with palm readers, psychics, games, music, living sculptures, a costume contest, and more.

Dia de Los Muertos Celebration
On Friday, November 1, Discovery Green will hold its annual Día de los Muertos festival with proper pageantry, music, live performances, hands-on activities, vendors, and an altar created by Angel Quesada. Here, visitors are encouraged to leave memories or “recuerdos” of their loved ones at the community altar.
