The best of summer is yet to come. Cuchara is officially bringing back its legendary Xochimilco boat tour along Buffalo Bayou! Get ready for an epic, Mexico City-inspired party barge loaded with live music, fun party favors, and bottomless margaritas.
Opened in 2012, Cuchara is a stylish Montrose bistro serving Mexico City-inspired comfort food in an art-filled, lively space. It’s known for its authentic flavors, strong cocktails, and standout dishes like mole verde, tacos, and brunch favorites.
Over the years, Cuchara has hosted a special cruise on Buffalo Bayou in Houston. As a one-of-a-kind experience in the city, the cruise is a vibrant tribute to the Xochimilco tradition—floating along Mexico City’s Aztec canals on flamboyant rafts while enjoying great food, drinks, and live music.
In coordination with Buffalo Bayou Partnership, the Xochimilco cruise will feature bottomless margaritas in two flavors, as well as Mexican snacks, party favors, and live music.
“If you’ve never seen Houston from the water, this is your chance,” the restaurant wrote in an Instagram post. “The views are spectacular, and so are the food and margaritas!”
Cuchara’s Xochimilco cruise is scheduled for Friday, August 14 2026. The experience runs from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. Tickets are extremely limited, featuring only 16 available spots priced at $125+ tax. Interested parties can reserve their tickets by contacting Cuchara directly at 713-942-0000.
Since the publishing of the original article, the Xochimilco experience in August has sold out. However, Cuchara has added a second date scheduled for September 18.

In the event of severe weather, ticket holders will have the opportunity of receiving a full refund or rescheduling their experience.
With the second date added, it appears that Cuchara plans to hosts its Mexico City-inspired boat cruise more regularly. That said, the event is very popular with extremely limited seating – so get your tickets soon!
