Stand-up comedy shows in Houston this February
1. Russell Peters

The highly-awarded, world-renowned comic, producer, and actor, Russell Peters, is performing a number of sets at the Houston Improv this week starting Thursday, January 30. Named on Rolling Stones’ list of the 50 Best Comics of All Time, Peters was the first comedian to sell-out the Air Canada Centre in Toronto in 2007 and the first to record a Netflix Original Comedy Special. In addition to touring and developing a TV series, Peters now has a Podcast called Culturally Cancelled with Russell Peters.
At the time of this article, tickets are still available for both Peters’ performances Thursday night as well as his set on Saturday evening at 7.

2. Katt Williams
The high-pitched, outspoken comedian makes his way to Houston this weekend as a part of the Heaven on Earth tour. While in recent memory, one might know Katt Williams from his iconic appearance on Club Shay Shay where he spilled ALL the tea, Williams had previously solidified himself as one of the most prominent stand-ups of our time, filming 13 stand-up specials throughout his longstanding career – 19 if you ask him. 3. Kumail Nanjiani

Before he was a super handsome Kingo in Eternals, Critics Choice Award-winning screenplay writer (The Big Sick), and a loveable dork on Silicon Valley, Kumail Nanjiani started his career in stand-up. After taking a brief hiatus from stand-up – for the aforementioned reasons – Nanjiani is returning to the mic in preparation for an upcoming Netflix special: Doing This Again. 4. Kyle Kinane
Kyle Kinane is a critically acclaimed Portland-based stand-up that is beloved in comic circles. Known for his deprecating humor, story-telling, gruff cadence, and sneaky introspection, Kinane has appeared on numerous late-night shows and podcasts including from WTF with Marc Maron, Comedy Bang! Bang! and The Nerdist Podcast.

6. Rob Schneider
The SNL alum is prominently known for his many comic performances in the ’90s and early ’00s including Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigolo, The Hot Chick, The Animal and movies under the Adam Sandler Happy Madison umbrella. Schneider has multiple performances lined up in Houston starting Valentine’s Day. Attending a stand-up comedy show with your significant other on Valentine’s Day is probably the recipe for a sit-com-level disaster but who are we to say?

7. Julie Kim
Julie Kim is a prominent Canadian stand-up comedian and writer. Kim, who recently toured with Ronny Chieng, has performed at numerous Canadian comedy festivals, including Just for Laughs – Montreal and Vancouver – the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and the Halifax Comedy Festival. As a writer, Kim has been an influence in the writers rooms of Kim’s Convenience, Run the Burbs, and Still Standing.

8. Tim Heidecker

The wacky mind behind the Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and Tom Goes to the Mayor, and is one of the most versatile entertainers out there. His absurdist humor has cemented his series as cult-classics. Furthermore, Heidecker is a constant presence on and off screen, acting in the likes of Killing It! What We Do in the Shadows, and I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson.
In addition to his work as a writer, Heidecker has carved out a flourishing music career, blending the heartfelt with satire, commentary, and dark comedy. Heidecker is performing at The Secret Group this February with The Very Good Band as well as a surprise special guest.

9. Mo Gilligan

The Shanghai-born, LA-based Andrea Jin is a rising star in comedy. At the age of just 29, Jin has already secured numerous accolades for her comedy including New Face at Just for Laugh’s Montreal Festival and well as a Juno Award for Comedy Album of the Year for her standup special Grandma’s Girl.
