Since the concert announcement, the Beyhive has been to think of little else other than the grand return of Houston’s hometown, Queen B. Following a flurry of pop-ups, drink specials, and events celebrating Beyoncé’s Houston return, the queen herself took to the stage at NRG Stadium to the pleasure of the masses.
While performing her first of two Houston stadium shows, a stage mishap left Beyoncé suspended over the crowd – forcing her to pause the concert. Here’s what happened at Beyoncé’s concert in Houston last night.
At the emotional climax of her Houston concert, Beyoncé was sailing over the heads of the crowd on a flying red convertible during a performance of her heartfelt country ballad, 16 Carriages. It was then that the prop car hit a snag, beginning to tilt at a sharp, dangerous angle mid-air.
Upon realization, Beyoncé – harnessed to the vehicle – calmly told the concert crew to stop into the microphone.
The track stopped. At which point, Beyoncé smiled to the cheers of fans. “Thank y’all for your patience”, Beyoncé said.” Safely, the crew lowered the vehicle back to the ground.
Beyoncé left briefly and upon returning to the main stage said: “I wanna thank y’all for loving me. If ever I fall, I know y’all will catch me.”
Ever the pro, Beyoncé would finish the performance of 16 Carriages without skipping a beat.
At this point it is unclear what caused the technical error. Beyoncé’s team nor NRG officials haven’t issued a formal statement. In any case, we hope whatever its issues are resolved by tonight when Beyoncé returns to NRG Stadium in Houston for her second stadium concert.
