Movie theaters today have super comfortable seating—from soft, reclining lounge chairs to side tables so you can enjoy a cocktail or food while you watch—but so far we haven’t had the option of actual beds before.
Well, that’s about to change this summer in Houston!
“Bed Cinema” will be hosting Houston’s first-ever outdoor movie theater with actual beds you can lay on for five nights this summer. From June 24 through 28, over 150 inflatable double beds with pillows and blankets will be put out at a location still TBD but likely in one of our many amazing parks.
Each bed will fit two to four people, so you can curl up with your besties or a significant other. And if you don’t want to enjoy the movie from a bed for some reason (but why wouldn’t you?!) no worries, you can still bring your own picnic blanket to sit on.
There will also be a food truck on site so you can eat all your favorite movie snacks, and also free popcorn will be given out. And, there are LED-lit bedside tables next to each bed so you don’t have to worry about spilling in the sheets!
The movies shown each night have not been announced yet, but they said to expect classics. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, so stay up to date on when they go on sale on their website here.
Bed Cinema has previously held this event in other countries like Australia, and appears to be doing a U.S. tour this summer to other cities including L.A., Chicago, Miami and more. Sounds like truly the most comfortable public movie viewing ever!
