Nearly three years after closing its doors nationwide following its 2023 bankruptcy Bed Bath & Beyond is officially making a comeback in Houston.
While BB&B has lived on as an e-commerce site over the last few years, Bed Bath & Beyond is finally bringing physical storefronts back to Texas. Here is everything you need to know about the highly anticipated return.
Bed Bath & Beyond isn’t just building massive new standalone boxes. Instead, they are teaming up with another organization powerhouse. Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. has signed definitive agreements to acquire The Container Store, Elfa, and Closet Works, with the deal expected to close in July 2026. In the meantime, The Container Store has begun a nationwide reset across 98 stores to prepare for phased Bed Bath & Beyond product integration, including Houston-area locations

“This is an exciting step forward as we continue bringing our Everything Home vision to life,” said Amy Sullivan, President, Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc.
“By bringing together the strengths of these two iconic brands, we’re creating a more connected shopping experience that combines inspiration, organization, solutions and value for customers across every room in the home.”
The Container Store is currently liquidating roughly 30% of select categories and SKUs to make room for the new retail mate. Over the coming months, these combined mega-stores will merge the best of both worlds: The Container Store’s core custom closet and organization systems mixed directly with Bed Bath & Beyond’s home essentials.

The rollout is already happening, with the very first integrated store having just opened in Fort Worth. For Houstonians, four local Container Store locations are actively prepping for the transformation:
The Woodlands: 1455 Lake Woodlands Dr.
Uptown / Galleria: 2511 Post Oak Blvd
Champions: 5466 FM 1960 West
Friendswood: Baybrook Mall (18760 Gulf Fwy)
The new hybrid spaces will typically range from 12,000 to 20,000 square feet. Bed Bath & Beyond will be introducing dedicated sections for dining, curtains, bedding, small appliances, and textiles. And yes, executives have officially confirmed that the legendary, towering “towel wall” will absolutely be a part of the rebranded locations.
The stores are actively clearing out clearance inventory right now to prep for the massive integration, with the official deal expected to close in July 2026. Get your shopping carts ready, Houston!
