With temperatures riding into the 90s, it’s beginning to feel a lot like summer in Houston. Though much of the city has been steadily anticipating the opening of the Great Wolf Lodge, there’s another aquatic venue splashing into the city. Angel Lagoon, a 4-acre crystal lagoon, is set to make its debut this Memorial Day Weekend in Houston.
Proclaiming to be the first-ever public access lagoon in the state, Angel Lagoon is an aquatic oasis complete with crystal-clear waters that will make the centerpiece of a 40-acre mixed-use, amenity village situated on a 150-acre development property in Dayton.
Angel Lagoon will be hosting its grand opening this Saturday, May 25. The venue will continue to roll-out its aquatic entertainment ranging from kayaking, paddle boarding, as well as sailing – including a national sailing club where interested parties can learn to sail.
Additionally, the beach-side venue will feature an amphitheater complete with a floating stage for live music performances, as well as a heated swim zone, and palapa grill, an open-air kitchen where patrons can enjoy tropical cocktails, burgers, and tacos. Food trucks, beach volleyball courts, and a hammock lawn will also be on-site.
“Can you imagine driving and suddenly seeing the turquoise blue water that you imagine you could only see in the Bahamas or in beautiful places right here in the city of Dayton, Texas? Beach life? You can see beautiful cabanas will have lounge chairs, water sports. It’s going to be a gathering place where we’ll have lots of festivals, food and wine festivals,” said CEO of The Lagoon Development Company, Uri Man.
Angel Lagoon is a project from The Lagoon Development Company, the same team behind Texas City’s Lago Mar as well as Balmoral Crystal Clear Lagoon & Beach Club in Humble.
Angel Lagoon opens this Saturday, May 25, at 15 River Ranch Blvd. in Dayton. While the Grand Opening will feature live music, inflatable slides, and food trucks, visitors will no be able to swim as the water isn’t quite ready yet. As far as when that will be, Man said aims for late summer. Tickets to the Grand Opening May 25 will be available day-of via Eventbrite.
