In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Houston Polish Festival is taking over the grounds at Our Lady of Czestochowa this weekend for three days of traditional food, live music, and folk dancing.
What began in 2006 as a parish picnic celebrating Poland’s National Constitution Day now fills the church grounds for an entire weekend. The September Polish Harvest Festival carries that original community spirit into the fall, drawing thousands of returning visitors every year.
When and where is the Houston Polish Festival
The festival takes place from Friday, September 18, to Sunday, September 20 at Our Lady of Czestochowa, 1731 Blalock Road. The festival hours are listed below:
- September 18: 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.
- September 19: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
- September 20: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Food and drink at the Houston Polish Festival
Parish volunteers run the kitchen, serving up home-cooked pierogi, gołąbki (cabbage rolls), bigos (hunter’s stew), and roasted pork shanks. At the bar, Baa Baa Brewhouse pours a custom Polish recipe beer brewed specifically for the event.
Entertainment at the Houston Polish Festival
A continuous lineup of folk dance performances runs across the three days, featuring local groups like Dance Group Wawel and visiting ensembles performing in full regional costumes. Between the accordion sets and late-night disco, you can browse the Polish market for imported pantry staples, shop for handmade porcelain and jewelry at the silent auction, or join the raffles.
The festival also features dedicated children’s activities throughout the weekend. On Sunday, the festival will host a traditional Polish Mass and opening ceremony.
