Walmart has officially expanded its drone delivery partnership with Wing into the Greater Houston area. Starting this week, residents living near five specific Supercenters can now opt for drone delivery on select household essentials, groceries, and over-the-counter medications.
The launch marks Houston as the first major expansion market for the companies in 2026, following established operations in Dallas-Fort Worth and Metro Atlanta.

Service Areas and Availability
The service is currently limited to communities surrounding five specific Walmart Supercenters:
- Katy: 1313 N Fry Rd and 6060 N Fry Rd
- Northwest Houston: 15955 FM 529 Rd
- Kemah: 255 FM 518
- Crosby: 14215 FM 2100 Rd
Customers in these areas can order items weighing up to 2.5 pounds—including fragile goods like eggs or fresh produce—with delivery times estimated as fast as 30 minutes.
How the Delivery Process Works
The service utilizes Wing’s highly automated, lightweight drones, which cruise at an altitude of approximately 150 feet and reach speeds of up to 60 mph.
Rather than landing, the drone hovers above the delivery site and uses a tether-and-winch system to lower the package. The technology is designed to identify a clear space on a customer’s property, such as a driveway or lawn, roughly the size of a picnic blanket.

How to Access the Service
To use the new delivery option, Houstonians must follow these steps:
- Verify Eligibility: Enter your address at wing.com/walmart to see if you are within the active flight radius.
- Order via App: Eligible orders must currently be placed through the Wing app.
- Pricing: For a limited time, drone delivery is free for Walmart+ members. For non-members, a flat delivery fee of $19.99 applies per order.
This Houston launch is part of a larger national rollout. Walmart and Wing have announced plans to expand to 150 additional stores this year, with a goal of establishing a network of over 270 drone-enabled locations by 2027.
