Let it shine!
While the weather might have rained on our parade this morning, Houston can still celebrate the holidays tonight at the 33rd Annual Uptown Holiday Lighting this evening! [Featured image: @uptownhouston]
The Uptown festivities are set to begin this evening at 4 pm. The free event, happening rain or shine, will kick off with your favorite holiday tunes, shopping, treats, street entertainment and more all in a celebratory atmosphere along Post Oak Boulevard from the West Loop to Richmond Avenue.
“Make your Thanksgiving shine with Uptown Houston at the Uptown Holiday Lighting tomorrow night,” officials wrote in an Instagram post. “Bring your family and friends to the festive event to experience a lights extravaganza, holiday treats and shopping, and a special appearance from Santa!”
As the festivities start ramping up, the ceremony will hold the Hilton Post Oak Balcony Decorating Contest at 6:30 pm, wherein festive search lights will spotlight their three favorites decorated balconies.
The evening will culminate at 7 pm with a dazzling light and firework show. At this time, a countdown will ensue to officially welcome the holiday season, as well as Santa to the City of Houston in which the trees along Post Oak Boulevard will illuminate, followed by a breathtaking fire work show!
