“Simone Biles has withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue. She will be assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions,” USA Gymnastics wrote in a Twitter post.
During the qualifiers, Biles became the first woman in 9 years to qualify for all six available finals – individual all-around final and vault, team final, beam and uneven bars final, and floor.

Biles had an uncharacteristic performance in vault, wherein she scored a 13.766 after bailing out of her Amanar vault. Following which, Biles exited the floor with her bag and trainer.
Biles would be subbed out for the uneven bars for Jordan Chiles. Later, Biles returned to watch her team’s performances from the sideline.
“My heart broke for her,” former USA Gymnastics Olympian, MyKayla Skinner told TODAY. “I can’t even imagine what she’s going through right now. I wish I could run down there and give her a big hug.”
