Following a series of super successful pop-ups, the Dallas-based Japanese sandwich shop, Sandoitchi, is set to open a brick-and-mortar in Houston. The new flagship restaurant will offer chef-driven dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as a full coffee bar and expanded beverage program.
Sandoitchi is a Dallas-born concept created by former Uchi chef, Stevie Nguyen. Nguyen, who also cheffed at Momofuku Ko in New York – which has Two Michelin Stars – created the Sandoitchi as a pop-up in 2020. Sandoitchi is famed for its crustless, fluffy konbini-style sandwiches available in different varieties hot, cold, and/or fruit-filled.

Some favorites over the years have included the Strawberry Matcha Cream, Classic Chicken Katsu, Egg Salad, Peaches and Cream, and Ebi Shrimp Cheezu Katsu sandwiches – all of which served in its staple rice takeout box packaging.
Over the years, Sandoitchi has held numerous pop-ups in Dallas, Austin, Houston, and California to wide acclaim and droves of foodies – selling out sometimes within an hour. Following its hit pop-ups, as well as its inaugural physical location inside The Joule hotel in Dallas, the company is ready to open a permanent 1,200-square-foot restaurant at 1603 N. Durham Dr. formerly occupied by Mico’s Hot Chicken.
Whereas the pop-ups have typically featured during lunch hours, the new Sandoitchi Houston brick-and-mortar will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. According to reports, the restaurant will also feature a coffee bar as well as an elevated beverage program Sandoitchi co-founder Keith Tran told Chron, that includes different varieties of matcha lattes in flavors ranging from strawberry to horchata hojicha. The Heights venue will also feature a 2,000-square-foot patio.

Its Dallas brick-and-mortar also serves a number of specialty drinks like the Yuzu Arnold Palmer along with Japanese beers and Sake-based cocktails.
The company originally announced its Houston brick-and-mortar this past August. Its initial plans were to begin construction in October 2025 with the goal of completion January 2026. As of now, the company has not yet announced an official opening date. Stay tuned here and follow Sandoitchi’s. socials to find out when it officially opens its Houston location!
