For those who can’t wait to fly out to Dallas this October for the official Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience, you can get a little taste of the magic right here in Houston at Urban South Brewery’s Potterfest.
Add a little more magic to your summer in Houston at Potterfest, a three-day festival celebrating all things Harry Potter at Houston’s Urban South Brewery.
Located in Sawyer Yards, Urban South Brewery is a 10-barrel brewhouse, taproom, patio bar and beer garden that specializes in creative, Houston-themed beers. Beginning this Thursday, July 27, patrons can head down to their 14.000-square-foot facility for Potterfest, kicking off with a Tri-Wizard Trivia Tournament.
On Friday, July 28, wizards of all ages can attend a Harry Potter-y class (6 pm – 9 pm) while enjoying a movie marathon. Later that day, the brewery will feature Hogwarts-inspired house flights as well as the brewery’s new Butterbeer recipe – also available in non-alcoholic form and in frozen form.
On Saturday, the movie marathon will continue with more screenings of the Harry Potter franchise. Otherwise scheduled for the day are a costume contest, Diagon Alley vendor market, wand decorating class, a Platform 9 3/4 photo booth, bounce house, and more!
Additionally, the brewery will be hosting a sock drive throughout the weekend to be donated to those in need.
Potterfest at Urban South Brewery is completely free and is open to wizards young and old. Urban South Brewery is located at 1201 Oliver St. #10 in Sawyer Yards. The brewery is open from 2- 10 pm Monday through Thursday; from 11 am – 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays; and from 11 am – 9 pm on Sundays.
