Hit the deck at Moonshine.
Nestled on 1239 W 19th St. among a familiar crowd of patio bars – Preslee’s, McIntyre’s Heights, and Bungalow Heights– is Moonshine Deck, a throwback Americana-inspired bar and kitchen with moonshine and whiskey to boot. [Featured image: @moonshine_deck]
Moonshine Deck is a southern-cooked whiskey watering hole that celebrates comfort food, Americana, and moonshine. Self-described as a “rebellious respite in the bustling urban backdrop of downtown Houston,” the bar and kitchen offers a spacious indoor and outdoor hang beset with a myriad of TVs, a turf-plated patio, patio games, porch swings, and a number of photo-friendly installations.
Food wise, Moonshine Deck offers appetizers, tacos, salads, farmhouse wings, entrees, and brunch. Featured items include the Parmesa Truffle Fries ($8.95), Southern Table Brisket Nachos ($15), Blackberry Chutney Hot Nashville Chicken & Waffles ($15.75), and The Infamous Brisket Grilled Cheese ($12.95), made with slow-smoked brisket, pimiento and cheddar cheese on Texas toast.
As for libations, the bar offers a glorious variety of cocktails, wines, ciders, beers, and frozen drinks. Featured drinks include their Moonshine Mojito ($10.50), made with pineapple-infused American Born moonshine, simple syrup, Cointreau, mint leaves, pineapple and lime juice, the Grand Love Street Michelada ($10.50) with Karbach Love Street, Zing Zang, and a house spice mix, as well as their Loaded Topo’s – specialty cocktails served in Top Chico bottles.
One cool feature found at the bar is their self-serve taps. Through a service named Pour My Beer, customers can pour how they please by perusing the bar’s featured brews (as presented on a screen), add a card, and serve themselves.
Moonshine Deck is now open from 4 pm to midnight Mondays through Thursdays, and 11 am through 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays; 11 am – midnight on Sundays.
