Houston-based company, MetroNational, has announced its plans to build the “Memorial Town Square” – a 27-acre development at the former Sears building in Memorial City.
Per its website, MetroNational is a “privately-held real estate investment, development, and management company” based in Houston.
The company recently unveiled its big plans for its new development which they call Memorial Town Square. According to its website, the new mixed-use development will comprise of a variety of local and national retailers, chef-driven restaurants, residential, office areas, and green spaces.
“When it’s done, Memorial Town Square hopefully will provide a place where families can go to enjoy highly walkable shops, great restaurants and beautiful green spaces,” MetroNational president Jason Johnson told Houston Business Journal. “Houston may be a metropolitan city; however, Houstonians enjoy having a place that feels like it is all their own.”
As outlined in its brochure, the development will largely cater to Memorial City’s community of affluent individuals and families. As such, the company plans to serve the population’s need for high-end goods, services, and “high culture” experiences.
“Memorial Town Square is the next level live, work and play destination blending luxury and sophistication with the feeling of comfort and connection that people enjoy in their own backyards,” the brochure outlines. “Its purposeful design and a high level of service come together in harmony with the natural ecosystem of the neighboring area to create a true community haven.”
The development of Memorial Town Square will take place in phases, beginning with a groundbreaking in 2023. Phase One will see 1.8-million-square-feet of added restaurant, retail, office, green, and amenity space.
After which, the development will begin working on its 379,000-square-foot office tower.
MetroNational expects for the development to be completed by November of 2025.
