Leica Camera has confirmed it will open its first Texas location at River Oaks District in Houston in 2027 — a combined retail store and gallery that will sit alongside Le Colonial on Westheimer Road. The space will carry Leica’s full product lineup, including the M-System, SL-System, and Q cameras, lenses, timepieces, and home cinema products.
Beyond retail, the Houston outpost is designed as a cultural venue. Leica plans to host exhibitions, workshops, educational programming, and artist talks, positioning the space as a meeting point for Houston’s photographers, collectors, and visual artists. That programming focus isn’t incidental — Houston’s existing infrastructure of arts institutions and photography events made it a deliberate choice for the brand’s North American expansion.
“Houston is one of America’s most dynamic cultural centers, with a vibrant arts community and an entrepreneurial spirit that makes it a natural home for Leica,” said Mike Giannattasio, President of Leica Camera North America.

River Oaks District, the 18-acre luxury retail and dining destination owned by Tilman Fertitta, currently houses more than 60 global brands — from Hermès and Cartier to Brunello Cucinelli and Loewe. Leica will add a distinctly culture-forward dimension to that tenant mix.
“We are intentional about bringing in brands that elevate the overall experience of the District,” said Robert Bernard, Senior Real Estate Manager at Fertitta Entertainment.
Leica operates a global network of roughly 120 stores, many of which function as galleries and community spaces alongside traditional retail. The Houston location follows that model, with the brand citing the city’s creative community and celebrated photography festival as factors that made the market a strong fit.
Specific opening dates, programming details, and events will be announced closer to the 2027 launch. More information on Leica Camera is available at the official Leica website, and River Oaks District details can be found at RiverOaksDistrict.com.
