If you’ve been to an Astros or Rockets game recently, you might have come across a Maven Coffee + Cocktails cart. From Rex Hospitality Group, co-founded by the Astros’ Lance McCullers Jr., in partnership with Juan Carlos Martinez de Aldecoa and Jimmy Doan, the company is expanding with a stunning new brick-and-mortar in Houston opening this Wednesday.
Maven Coffee + Cocktails opens on the first floor of the Thompson Houston hotel this Wednesday, May 1st. Here, Houstonians can enjoy high-quality coffee, hand-crafted cocktails, curated wine list, as well as an array of sandwiches, pastries, and other sweets.
“Our Maven carts have received incredible feedback from Houstonians and visitors asking for more,” said Lance McCullers Jr. “We knew we were ready to expand, and Thompson Houston was the perfect place for our first location. It’s a stunning space designed to welcome hotel guests, local residents, downtown commuters, and everyone in between.”
Maven’s location at the Thompson Hotel features a simple yet sophisticated interior with an abundance of natural lighting and rotating art pieces from the local Serrano Gallery.
Rex Hospitality co-founder Juan Carlos Martinez de Aldecoa hopes the venue will establish a “coffee-by-day, cocktail-by-night atmosphere”.
“Whether you’re looking for a quick coffee and snack between meetings or a pre- or post-dinner cocktail, we’ve got what you need, and we look forward to serving you.”
In addition to the venue’s popular Espresso Martini and Carajillo, Maven features a variety of other hand-crafted cocktails including the Xoco Fizz made with Toki Japanese Whiskey, xoco, and banana, and the Conversation Starter spun with Zephyr, passionfruit, chai, mint, and honey.
Maven Coffee + Cocktails also boasts an impressive wine and bubbly list with such features as Domaine de la Villaudiere Sancerre and Château Saint Sulpice Bordeaux Rouge 2020. The venue plans to roll out a Happy Hour menu in the coming weeks.
Maven Coffee + Cocktails opens on the first floor of the Thompson Houston at 1717 Allen Parkway on Wednesday, May 1. The cafe is open from 6:30 am – 10 pm Monday through Thursday; 6:30 am – 11 pm Friday through Saturday; and from 7 am – 10 pm on Sundays.
