We’ve always known that Space City knows how to have a good time – but now it’s official. WalletHub recently conducted a study ranking the Most Fun Cities in America (2024), ranking Houston as more fun than the likes of New York, LA, and more.
In its study, WalletHub compared over 180 cities, including 150 of most populated United States cities as well as the two most populated cities in each state. The study took into account three key areas: entertainment & recreation, nightlife & parties, and costs. Across which, the study utilized 65 metrics.
Metrics, among others, include: business hours of breweries, festivals per capita, number of attractions, public beaches per capita, sports venues per capita, presence of music festivals, beer gardens, comedy clubs per Capita, average beer price, cost of living, and average food price.
Utilizing this methodology, the study named Houston as the 9th most fun city in the United States. Houston scored the highest rankings in the following metrics: dance clubs per capita (tied 1st), restaurants, and attractions. Other categories in which Houston excelled include parkland per capita and playgrounds.
Houston wasn’t the only Texas city to make the list. In the top 100 cities the following Texas cities ranked: Austin was ranked 6th, San Antonio 25th, Dallas 31st, El Paso 53rd, Fort Worth 55th, Plano 78th, Arlington 79th, and Corpus Christi 99th.
According to the study, the most fun city in the United States is Las Vegas, Nevada, followed by Orlando, Miami, Atlanta, and New Orleans. Houston also followed Austin, San Francisco, and Chicago in the top 10 funnest cities. The 182nd most fun city in the country is Pearl City, Hawaii, according to the publication.
