Living on a golf course is one thing, but living on a mini-golf course is something completely new. The Houston-area neighborhood of Indigo in Fort Bend County is incorporating an interactive mini-golf game into its 235-acre, master-planned community, weaving a network of accessible mini-golf courses among its public spaces.
IndiGolf is a playful re-imagination of a standard golf-course as an inclusive, all-ages, community-centered experience. Instead of isolated fairways, the golf-courses are woven into the network of neighborhood homes in which each “hole” serves as a versatile gathering space blending recreational features with amenities such as fitness zones, communal dining areas, and lush garden settings.
From Houston-based, real-estate development company, Meristem Communities, developed in collaboration with design studio Friendly Futures and landscape architects CultivateLAND, IndiGolf is a first-of-its-kind project making its exclusive debut at Fort Bend County’s Indigo. This innovative approach fosters connection among neighbors while encouraging outdoor engagement and inclusivity.
“We’ve always believed that a great neighborhood is more than just rows of houses – it’s about the moments and connections shared between neighbors,” said Clayton Garrett, partner at Meristem Communities in a press release.
“IndiGolf is an invitation for Indigo’s residents and visitors to ‘putt’ themselves out there and connect with the neighborhood’s spirit. In collaboration with Friendly Futures and CultivateLAND, we’re embracing playtime as a catalyst for everyone to feel a greater sense of belonging in a way that’s joyful, inclusive, and unexpected.”
