Home Slice Pizza is carving out space in Midtown.
Our great state’s capital is spreading the love. Houstonians will soon be able to get a slice from one of Austin’s top pizza parlors, Home Slice Pizza. The capital favorite has collected an array of awards since opening its doors in 2005. Such accolades include Austin Chronicle’s Reader’s choice for Best Pizza in 2019, 2017, and the four consecutive years prior.
Soon Houstonians will be able to sink their teeth into Home Slice’s award-winning pies at 3701 Travis St. in Midtown.
The new restaurant in Houston will be the first location that Home Slice Pizza will have opened outside of Austin.
“It’s time to show Houston what Home Slice Pizza is all about,” the group wrote in an Instagram. post. “We’ll be opening later this year (we promise we’ll tell you the date once WE know) and will be located at the corner of Winbern and Travis Streets in Midtown. ”
Home Slice is renowned for their NY-style pizza. That is, crispy thin-crust pizza slices that are bigger than your face. Their toppings are those you’d find raiding the pantry of an Italian grandmother. If you want to customize your pizza, you can choose from mushrooms, sausage, fresh tomato, with Special Toppings that include fried eggplant, meatballs, house-roasted red peppers, and more.
If you want to leave the pizza craft to them, Home Slice offers seven stylized pies. One of which is the White Clam Pizza, which features chopped clams, extra virgin olive oil, fresh oregano, and Pecorino Romano.
All this is to say that if you’re looking for a ranch-barbecue-Flamin’-Hot-Cheeto-hamburger pizza with garlic-glazed-stuffed-cheese crust double fried in hot Nutella — it ain’t here, B.
Home Slice also offers salad options, along with calzones, homemade desserts, and hot and cold subs. In typical Italian fashion, their drink menu features an assortment of wines as well as wine cocktails. Other beverages include beer, bottled soda, and coffee.
Keep your eyes and your belly open. Home Slice’s storefront is already up is set at 3701 Travis Street in Midtown; hopefully its opening is imminent. Get there now to avoid the line!
