This past April, officials announced the first-ever Fleet Week in Texas to take place in Houston. Later that October, officials announced that the the highly-anticipated event scheduled for November 2025 would be postponed for an indefinite date in 2026. This past Wednesday, the City of Houston announced the official dates for Fleet Week in Houston slated for this April.
“The City of Houston never forgot its commitment to hosting Fleet Week Houston, and I am excited about the new dates and honored to host the men and women who serve our country,” said Mayor Whitmire in a statement.
“As I said before, I’m going to take my grandkids to it, and I invite all Houstonians to join me to help welcome the armed forces members, experience firsthand the work they do, and participate in the events from ship tours to demonstrations. The Fleet Week Houston festivities will be unique and monumental.”
What is Fleet Week?
Fleet Week is a cherished, longstanding tradition originated in 1935 that salutes the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. The week-long event connects the community with the armed forces through a packed schedule of vessel tours, military exhibits, parades, and live concerts.
When is Fleet Week in Houston?
The inaugural Fleet Week in Houston will take place from April 15 through April 26, 2026.
Where will Fleet Week take place in Houston?
Fleet Week events will take place across the Houston area. According to Houston officials, key venues hosting Fleet Week events include the following:
- Port of Houston
- City Hall
- Post Houston
- Discovery Green
- East End
- Surrounding districts and neighborhoods
What to Expect for Fleet Week in Houston?
Fleet Week will bring over a thousand Navy, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen personnel to Houston along with numerous Navy vessels.
Over the course of the event, Houston can expect a wide array of parades, expositions, demonstrations, ship tours, concerts, community service initiatives, and educational outreach. Details about events associated with Houston Fleet Week have not yet been released.
Officials have not yet stated whether or not the Houston Fleet Week events will include a demonstration of the Blue Angels. Per the 2026 Blue Angels Show Schedule, personnel will be performing at the Wings Over South Texas Air Show in Kingsville from April 18 – 19, 2026.
Will Fleet Week festivities in Houston require tickets?
