Created in 1981, the Great Texas Mosquito Festival is an annual community event in Clute, Texas. Each summer, the town comes together for a carnival-like celebration complete with live music, cook-offs, food trucks, and family-friendly activities.
This year, the Great Texas Mosquito Festival celebrates its 44th anniversary in Clute from July 23 – July 25, 2026.
Festivities kick off on Thursday, July 23. With free admission available for its first day, the event will feature a BBQ cookoff, horseshoe tournament, karaoke, and live music. Live performances Thursday night include Desert Highway at 7 pm followed by Metal Shop at 9:30 pm.
On Friday, the BBQ cookoff will continue, coinciding with a special Kids Que contest. Visitors can also partake in a washer tournament and catch performances by Chase Richburg, Lil’ Nathan & The Zydeco Big Timers, and Sammy Kershaw.
The last day of the festival will feature more cookoff action as well as a range of community-specific special events. Those of which include a Mosquito Chase 5K and Mosquito Calling and Mosquito Legs contests. Saturday’s live music lineup features performances by Destiny Navaira, Grupo Retro, and La Leyenda.
Throughout the festival, visitors can expect food trucks and vendors, shopping, lawn games, kids’ activities, and more.
The Great Texas Mosquito Festival takes place at 100 Parkview Drive in Clute, Texas from July 23 – July 25. Free admission is available on Thursday, July 23. On Friday and Saturday of the festival, admission is priced at $12 online or $15 at the gate for adults; $7 online or 10$ at the gate for children (6 – 12) and senior citizens (65 and up). Admission is free for children ages 5 and under.
Admission does not include carnival rides, but includes access to BBQ cookoff, daily entertainment, mosquito legs and calling contests, and kids activities.
