The Astros’ 4-2 loss to our rivals, the Texas Rangers, this past Sunday might’ve been a bad ending to the weekend, but at least Houston can start the week in good spirits courtesy of a free Chick-fil order thanks to Jake Meyers.
In the third inning of Sunday’s game, Jake Meyer hit a solo home run off Rangers’ pitcher, Max Scherzer that rang off of Minute Maid Park’s Chick-Fil-A foul pole (fowl pole?) in left field. Per tradition, this means the Houston fans can claim a free chicken order from area Chick-fil-A locations, either nuggets or chicken strips.
The offers stands for just today, Monday, July 15. How do I get my free Chick-fil-A sandwich? you ask, well, by downloading (if you haven’t done so already) the Chick-fil-A app. Once you have the app on your phone and running, you have to turn the phone’s location services on.
“WE GETTING FREE CHICKFILA TOMORROW Y’ALL!” the Astros posted on X/Twitter last night.
Homeruns off the foul pole aren’t that common, though not all that rare. This is the third time this season that the promotion has been triggered. The last instance was in June when Alex Bregman rang a homer off the pole, following Jose Altuve doing so in April.
In the Astros’ 2022 season, however, no home runs hit the foul pole. In a gesture of good faith, Astros’ mascot Orbit rang one off the pole for the Chick-fil-A-hungry Houston fans.
As stated, the Astros did lose against the Rangers this past Sunday. The teams’ record for the 2024 season are 5-5. The next time the two teams will face each other will be on August 5th.
As stated, the offer is for one day only, so be sure to stop by your resident Chick-fil-A today!
